Diabetes is a growing global problem of devastating social and economic impact.

Over 245 million people worldwide have diabetes. If nothing is done, this figure will exceed 380 million by 2025. More than 3.5 million people die of diabetes-related causes every year. The disease is a leading cause of blindness, kidney failure, heart attack, stroke and amputation. If nothing is done, diabetes threatens to overwhelm global healthcare services and weaken national economies. Despite the shocking statistics, awareness about diabetes and its complications remains pitifully low.   

To do nothing is no longer an option.  

The Unite for Diabetes campaign is led by the International Diabetes Federation and has the support of the global diabetes community.
 
Unite for Diabetes has initiated a multi-media campaign to raise awareness of diabetes and its complications, to improve diabetes care worldwide and to advocate for action to tackle the diabetes epidemic.  

Part of the interactive campaign, Unite for Diabetes flying circles activate communities to talk about diabetes and advocate for action.  

The flying circles initiative encourages interaction and dialogue in support of the Unite for Diabetes campaign. United we can make a difference.  

Launched on December 4th at the 19th World Diabetes Congress, the Unite for Diabetes flying circles give you the chance to make a difference for the 246 million people living with diabetes. Join us. United we can make a difference!  

Post a message and throw a flying circle to unite for diabetes.

How far can you spread the message?  

Flying circles with serial numbers can be tracked online. If you have a flying circle without a serial number, you can demonstrate your support for the campaign by posting a message, photo or video.  

Put your town on the map  

When you post a message a blue circle will indicate your home town on the map. Support us by helping spread this message far and wide to your friends and family around the world.
